I’m so glad you found me and BW Black Photography. Capturing the quiet, fleeting moments of a wedding day, the glances, laughter, and emotions that often go unnoticed, is at the heart of my work. Photographs preserve memory in a vivid, timeless way. They become the language of our memories, the still images our minds return to long after the day itself has passed.

I grew up under the sunny skies of Southern California, always curious about the world beneath the surface. From people and language to mathematics and art, I have long been captivated by nuance and detail. That curiosity led me to degrees in Applied Mathematics from UCLA and Technical Management from Johns Hopkins, and to a career in IT and enterprise analytics. When I am not behind the lens, I lead a large big data cloud computing initiative for NASA.

Aviation has been another lifelong passion. I earned my first pilot’s license before my driver’s license, and flying continues to shape how I see the world. It demands preparation and precision, along with trust, intuition, and calm in unpredictable moments. Those same qualities guide how I photograph weddings.

My wife helps keep me grounded. Where I am analytical and detail driven, she brings warmth, presence, and balance. Together, we support one another and care deeply for the couples we work with. We also share a love for animals and are active in rescue, sharing our home with three Springer Spaniels, two cats, and a revolving door of foster animals.

Wedding photography is where my passions intersect. Creativity, precision, and storytelling come together as we work with couples throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. I would love the opportunity to tell your story in a way that feels honest, natural, and deeply personal.

My name is Tiffaney Jewel, and I bring energy, warmth, and thoughtful care to every wedding day we photograph. I work alongside my husband as his assistant, while also helping couples feel supported, celebrated, and free to enjoy their day as it unfolds.

I was born and raised at the Jersey Shore, where the ocean has always felt like home. You will most often find me at the beach, lounging, swimming, or even surfing, where focus, balance, and adaptability matter as much as joy. That same sense of flow carries into how I move through a wedding day, meeting each moment with enthusiasm and presence.

My background is in art history and classical music, which trained my eye for detail, beauty, and emotional nuance. Over time, that awareness expanded into mindfulness and yoga, giving me tools to help people stay grounded in moments that are meaningful, emotional, and fast moving. I love working with people, reading the room, and offering exactly what is needed in the moment.

On a wedding day, I help transform complexity into calm. I manage transitions, anticipate needs, and quietly solve problems as they arise. I also come prepared with what has become known as our Mary Poppins emergency bag, stocked with everything from sewing supplies and essentials to small comforts that have saved the day more than once. If something unexpected happens, chances are I already have a solution.

Together, my husband and I work as a true team. While he focuses on capturing your story, I support the people, pace, and details that allow the day to feel joyful, balanced, and beautifully cared for from start to finish.

before your event

  • An online meet-up to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. Feeling comfortable together matters because our mutual vibe match directly impacts the quality of the photos you’ll love.

  • Once your date is secured, we dive into planning and understanding what matters most to you. My wife guides a thoughtful series of questions to help understand your priorities and timeline.

  • We strongly encourage an engagement session to help you feel comfortable in front of the camera. It’s a playful, low-pressure way to get to know our style and capture your joy together.

  • We check in with you regularly leading up to your wedding to stay in tune with your needs and priorities. Our goal is to make the planning process smooth and worry-free, so you always know we’re here and available.

  • We take time to experience your venue ahead of your wedding day, learning the light, flow, and best spots for portraits. This preparation allows us to move confidently and capture quiet, energetic and meaningful moments on the day.

day-of your event

  • We arrive looking polished and in tune with your wedding colors so we blend seamlessly with your celebration. It helps us feel present as part of the day while keeping the focus on you.

  • We touch base with your venue and key vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly. This behind-the-scenes effort allows the day to flow naturally without unnecessary stress.

  • We arrive prepared with all lighting and camera equipment tested and ready. This means we can capture your day confidently and creatively, no matter the conditions.

  • We carry a well-stocked Mary Poppins bag for the little emergencies that inevitably pop up. From minor wardrobe fixes to unexpected snacking needs, we’re ready to keep the day moving without worry.

  • Our presence is steady, encouraging, and attuned to the pace of your day. We focus on keeping everyone relaxed and enjoying the moment while capturing it beautifully.

after your event

  • Your images are carefully backed up locally and to the cloud, ensuring nothing is lost. With multiple redundancies in place, you can relax knowing your memories are safe.

  • We cull and edit your images with a cinematic, film-inspired approach that softens harsh highlights and brings out natural tones. This is where your day’s story truly comes to life.

  • A small selection of images is shared shortly after your wedding, so you can relive and celebrate the magic while waiting for the full gallery.

  • We spend extra time on a select set of your best images, carefully retouching each to create polished, editorial-quality photographs.

  • Your curated online gallery arrives within 30 days, beautifully organized and easy to share, with full-resolution images ready for download, printing, or posting.
